This utility allows you to disable or enable system extensions that contain startup code (INITs). Extension files include Control Panels, Chooser extensions and Startup documents.
Not all extensions contain startup code, such as the Control Panel “Color” extension. Some extensions with startup code can conflict with other extensions, which may yield to erratic operation of your computer or even system crashes.
In order to avoid conflicts some times is necessary to disable a system extension. In other instances you may need to disable an extension because of its memory requirements.
Highlighted extensions are enabled. To enable or disable an extension click on its name, your new selections are saved when you close the window. If you need to enable/disable extensions while your Mac is starting just hold the space bar down while starting up.
Some other utilities use other methods to disable extensions. If you were previously using a utility other than this one click on the button below so that you don’t loose any extensions.
